While I'm on a Nashville kick, let me share a couple of Parthenon photos that I just love.
The first was taken last year from across the pond in the middle of the day--not the time of day to be shooting, but for this photo, it worked. The sunlight shining (or trying to shine) through the leaves gives everything an interesting light and even colors the water green.
The second shot was taken just this Summer as dusk was falling. What a great place to hang around in the evening--we were throwing the frisbee and doing cartwheels in the field in front of the Parthenon. Someone nearby was playing a guitar--we could hear it on the wind from time to time.
You know, it used to be considered rather risky to be out at Centennial Park after dark, but now with the influx of so many internationals here in Nashville, the park has become a mixing ground with young and old, even entire families, just "hanging out" enjoying the wide open spaces for the kids, while the lovely gardens are perfect for the couples. You can hear the sound of singing--and it isn't in English--coupled with laughter and shouts. You might even be lucky enough to see some dancing that is not quite the swing dancing done under the roof! Quite different from the last time I ventured over there after dark...
Now all we need it a place for an international bazaar to set up--market stalls, shops, and food. Definitely food--kebobs, gyros, couscous, tamales... Maybe we could do this over behind the McDonalds. Better yet, let's just tear down the McDonalds and set up the bazaar right there! Who's with me?!?
